What is a Specialty Device?
These are usually devices such as scientific instruments, gaming consoles, and Smart TVs that cannot join wireless networks the traditional way.
What devices can I connect?
Generally, most consumer and professional grade devices are supported. To see the complete list of approved devices, and for assistance locating the wireless MAC address, visit the specialty or gaming device section of the IT Helpdesk FAQ. Please note, the OleMissDevices Wi-Fi network is only intended for these types of devices. Devices such as laptops and cell phones should utilize the standard OleMiss Wi-Fi network.
How many devices can I register?
Users are allowed to register up to five (5) devices in the portal.
Does my device registration expire?
Yes. Devices registered in the myDevices portal will expire every four (4) years and require re-registration to connect again.
How do I connect my personal device?
WebID holders can register their personal device’s wireless MAC address in the myDevices portal. Once registered, devices will instantly be able to join the OleMissDevices wireless network.
Register a Specialty DeviceWhat about departmental specialty devices?
University departments can fill out this form to request their specialty devices (Smart TVs, digital signage, etc) to be registered. Devices registered in this method are not subject to the max device or 4-year time limitations.
