Information for Guest Users

Campus visitors can gain Internet access on the OleMissGuest Wi-Fi network by having a current WebID holder (faculty, staff, or student) sponsor their accounts. Guests will need to provide their sponsor with a valid email address. A cell phone number may be provided if the guest would like their account information sent to them via SMS. Once the account has been set up by the sponsor, guests can then join the network.

WebID Holders: Sponsor a Guest

UM students, faculty, and staff have the ability to sponsor a guest for wireless access. Once this account has been created, guests will be able to access the Internet by connecting to the OleMissGuest Wi-Fi network using the automatically generated password that is sent to their email (or SMS if provided). All guests are bound by the IT Appropriate Use Policy and their sponsors are responsible for their online activity.

What information do I need to get from my guest?

  • REQUIRED: valid email address
  • Optional: valid cell phone number (for SMS)

How long can the account be created for?

  • Faculty & Staff can create accounts that are valid for 1 day, 7 days, 14 days, or 30 days.
  • Students can create accounts that are valid for 1 day or 7 days.
  • If a longer duration is required, please contact helpdesk@olemiss.edu.
